I’ve loved every curly stylist I’ve worked with but Roxy at Coastal Curl is truly amazing! She’s not only friendly, but also incredibly skilled and experienced. I have 3C curl pattern and usually stick to the same style but recently I decided to try something new and grow my hair out. I showed her a photo of a modernized 70s shag style, but wasn’t sure if it would suit my curls or how we could keep the length. Roxy absolutely nailed it, and I couldn’t be happier with the result!

The studio vibe is always warm and inviting. Roxy has impeccable taste so the music is always on point and the chic decor makes every visit feel like a fun spa day. I highly recommend her for anyone looking to elevate their curly hair game!

UPDATE: yet another incredible cut experience at Coastal Curl. In addition to giving wonderful haircuts, she spends so much time listening to me describe my hair issues and needs, and does so much research to help you find the right products. I have a very distinctive hair type, and while I have struggled to find the language for my hair Roxy knew right away! Huge fan of how warm and inviting the salon space is, it feels like a soft landing place where you're taken care of and loved!

I have had several amazing experiences having my hair cut by Roxy! For each of my cuts, she has done both a dry cut with my hair after I've washed it with my own products, then washed/dried/cut/styled it again. She asks questions and really listens to you when you talk about your hair and hair goals, helps you explore products that might work to support healthier hair, and not only encourages you to love your natural hair, but also shows you how beautiful your natural hair can be!

I recently had an appointment on July 9, 2024, at 10:30am, with Roxy. As a man with curly hair, I was quite nervous about finding a place and stylist who would understand my hair. However, I was thrilled with the experience. Roxy was fantastic from start to finish. As a new client, I originally booked for an undercut/side shave/neck trim through their website days before the appointment date. We began the consultation, and Roxy was very thorough and tailored to my curly hair needs and preferences. She took her time to understand what I wanted and recommended me an additional service for a dry express to be included in the service as well. I opted in for the dry express out of confidence and had most of the time to go for it. Although I became a little nervous since I never had a trim throughout my almost 2 year journey of letting my curls grow out, Roxy made me feel comfortable while explaining each step she was taking. Her expertise with curly hair was super evident. She offered great advice on maintaining/enhancing my curls. She was very precise with the trimming on top and the lineup on the sides and neck, giving it a fresh clean look. This was a game-changer and I felt so happy with the results that literally matched my expectation of how the style will come out to be. I recommend Roxy and Coastal Curl for anyone looking for a great quality care for their curls. Thank you Roxy for working your magic to make this a wonderful service, making my new curly style look fantastic than ever, and offering a complimentary peppermint tea! I’ve been coming to Roxy for a while now and she’s soooo amazing! She is super sweet about helping you reach YOUR hair goals and giving you the confidence to rock your hair the way you want.

My apt go by so quick and I never feel unwelcome. As a hijabi it’s been so hard finding a curly hair stylist that can understand not just my hair but my religious situation. Though she can’t control other hairstylist’s schedule, she does what she can to ensure I can get my hair done in peace.

Haircut with Marissa: I have medium curly hair that is on the finer /thinner side and lacks volume. I have been had multiple curly cuts, and curl specialists often overload my fine curls with product and struggle with cutting and styling according to my specific texture. Marissa really took her time to get to know me, my hair history, curl pattern and hair goals. She adjusted the cut throughout the appointment to achieve the shape I wanted. After about a week of styling my hair at home with my usual routine, I noticed my layers were not sitting the same way they were in her chair. When I reached out to her, she found a time to get me back in to the salon and was able to adjust my haircut to match my usual styling routine and achieve the look I was going for. She is so knowledgeable and a great curl specialist! Highly recommend!

The vibe in this salon is incredible. Owned by a woman of color, great music, positive attitudes. I felt so welcomed and comfortable here!

I recently visited Marissa for a haircut, and my experience was fantastic. Marissa is extremely knowledgeable and took the time to educate me on various hair products, styling techniques, washing tips, enhancing volume, and maintenance routines. She gave me a haircut with beautiful layers that perfectly matched the shape I desired.

Aside from her expertise, Marissa was a delight to chat with throughout the appointment. The salon itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and everyone there was incredibly accommodating and polite. This review is long overdue. Coastal Curl is incredible. Hands down, amazing. Roxy has cut my hair twice, and I’ve decided I’m never going anywhere else. Advice: book in advance, ya’ll! She is talented and books fast! If you can, book your next appointment after your haircut, when you’re there with her.

Not only is Roxy one of the most authentic, and hard-working people I’ve ever met, but she’s so committed to giving you an experience that is respectful of your time, your curls, and your vision for your hair. I felt like I had known her forever after just a couple hours. She takes the time to get to know my curls and I always walk away feeling confident, and just generally like I spent my time with a really great person who cares about the community. I sent my sister to Roxy, and she agrees, she’s never going anywhere else to get her haircut!

Rocio cut and styled my hair, and I love it! I also had hydration treatment and a scalp mask. My hair was extremely dry and brittle. It was in need of some TLC. Ro did just that! She taught me how to take care of my hair and what products to use. She was very friendly and helpful. She answered all my questions. I got a ton of compliments! My hair had defined, healthy curls.
