I had the unfortunate experience of interacting with Mary Bonham and wish I could say working with her is a smooth experience, but it was anything but. While I wasn’t the one directly selling the home, I was deeply involved as part of the family, and Mary turned what should have been a positive experience into a completely miserable one.

Mary’s lack of professionalism and respect for our family was genuinely shocking. She repeatedly failed to communicate in a timely or clear manner, even when important deadlines were looming. One instance that stands out is when our family had urgent questions about the listing agreement. Despite multiple attempts to reach her throughout the day, Mary didn’t respond until late that night, hours before a deadline. When we finally spoke, instead of addressing our concerns calmly and professionally, she raised her voice and berated my family and I. It was upsetting and completely inappropriate, especially for someone in a customer oriented role.

What made matters worse was her hostility when we sought a second opinion on the value of our home. Another highly respected agent in the East Bay area gave a much higher valuation, but instead of engaging in a constructive discussion, Mary chose to berate that agent and tried to shut down any alternate viewpoints. It felt like Mary was more interested in maintaining control and pushing for a quick sale than acting in our family’s best interest.

Selling a home should never feel like this. Mary’s behavior added unnecessary stress and has unfortunately tainted my lens for real estate agents in general. It also reflects poorly on her brokerage, The Agency, as I feel they condone this behavior. Her actions have left a negative impression on the industry as a whole and do a disservice to the many agents who genuinely strive to act with integrity and professionalism.

This review reflects my firsthand experience with Mary Bonham’s professional conduct and her direct actions during the home-selling process. Based on our short but terrible experience, I cannot recommend Mary or the Agency to anyone. If you want someone who is professional, respectful, and truly client-focused, look elsewhere.

UPDATE:

After posting my initial review about my family’s negative experience with Mary Bonham, I feel it’s necessary to provide a follow-up due to recent developments. Mary has sought to have my review removed instead of reflecting on the legitimate issues I raised. She has also circulated defamatory statements about her experience with my family during the inspections at our home. These claims are baseless, and I am compelled to clarify the situation to protect the integrity of my review.

Mary alleges that my family and I acted aggressively and improperly during the inspections. These accusations are outright false. Security camera footage and witness testimony directly contradict her version of events. The inspections occurred without issues and were completed within the scheduled time frame. Mary herself initially reported no problems, and only after my truthful Google review did she suddenly change her story.

It is disappointing that Mary’s superiors at her brokerage, The Agency, have been aware of her poor conduct from the start and have chosen not to address it. This lack of accountability speaks volumes about how The Agency operates and how Mary has been allowed to act "rogue" without oversight. I’m sure other agents there are professional, but one would expect a trustworthy brokerage to resolve conflicts and ensure its agents uphold high standards. Unfortunately, my family’s experience has been marked by unethical practices paired with combative behavior.

To be clear, my reviews are based on firsthand experiences, supported by evidence. I stand by my original review and encourage anyone considering working with Mary Bonham or her brokerage to proceed with caution. Selling a home should be collaborative and respectful, but Mary’s actions, combined with her brokerage’s lack of accountability, have proven otherwise.

Greg represented us on the listing of our home of over 10 years. His team is at the forefront of creative marketing. It was great to see such a turnout at our first open house. He is extremely experience handling multiple offers. We could tell he was well respected by agents in our community. We are currently looking at a home that needs updating, and are finding his experience in custom home building is a true asset. In addition, he is simply a great person to have on our team.

Greg was great to work with to sell our previous home and purchase our current home. Greg brought a lot to the table with his construction background. His knowledge was invaluable for evaluating all inspections and build quality of the houses we toured. He then assisted with the interior design and remodel of the new home we purchased. We are very happy. Thank you.

I don't have words to express how grateful we are for Dea Campbell. I had no idea how difficult the job of a realtor could be until now. We had been interested in a home that had been pending off an on with the same person and we wanted to make an attempt to make an offer. It was a long shot and Dea could have been going to a lot of trouble for nothing but she was willing to give it a shot. She got our home listed and sold within about 3 days, dealt calmly with all the escrow/sale/purchase problems that came along with the Covid crisis and stayed optimistic and grounded the entire time. She is a wonderful, positive person with integrity and we recommend her highly. The Agency is lucky to have her on their team! Thank you for everything Dea!
