The spirit in which the Sierra Wave was founded by the late John Heston and Bennett Kessler, and whose main funding came from the late Stan Matlick, a rancher whose father and grandfather watched their water being taken by the City of Los Angeles, died with the three of them. This valley will never see that kind of coverage again. Every professional in the mainstream media, outside of Bishop, who has covered this valley's water issues over the past thirty years, knows this. However, the current news director, Charles James, has tackled tough challenges other than water, and for that the Wave is to be commended.
