I tried cancelling on January 31st, but we can't cancel via our account online, we HAVE to call Customer Service. February 1st which is a Saturday, Customer Service is closed so I tried Monday February 3rd. Since then, they have been 'undergoing maintenance' after a system breach they had and it's almost March now we still don't have access to our accounts so we can't manage subscriptions and customer service can't and won't do anything about canceling. Trying to get refunded the $19.99 I was charged on February 1st and cancel before I'm charged again on March 1st has been a nightmare. It's seems a little sketch to me, I now have to dispute the February 1st charge and stop pay with my credit card company because the Globe is just pushing it under the rug and won't do anything about it. It's ridiculous that you can't cancel via your online account anytime.

Newspaper is dead. No customer service department to be found. And lackluster news. Tried for two months to sort out a digital subscription issue. Still unresolved and I’ve give up trying. Not sure why Lee Enterprises keeps the Globe around.

This newspaper is nothing more than a propaganda outlet for liberal Lee Enterprises. Much of its content is stories reprinted from the liberal Associated Press, other liberal Lee Enterprise newspapers and other liberal newspapers from around the country. Much of its other content are by quest columnist who have a liberal agenda to spin. The newspaper prints articles which are false and which can be easily fact checked by even elementary school children. The newspaper's editor Jaci Smith lies in emails. This publication suppresses online comments by paid subscribers which to not fits its liberal agenda or which attempt to fact check its articles. The newspaper prevents comments from being published by flagging comments as SPAM, claiming they contain profanity when they do not and placing comments in a endless loop within their submission form so they are never published. This newspaper bans subscribers from making comments which contradict their articles as well as removing previous published comments from their site in bulk.

A perfect example of its liberal leaning is the Mohawk name scam its promoting in Mason City.

[1] The word "Mohawk" was coined by the Dutch based upon the Algonquian word “Mohowawogs” for the tribe [their enemies]. The word "Mohawk" never existed in any Native American language.

[2] The word "Mohawk" first appeared in print in the 1630s. On the other hand the vast majority of North American Native American tribes did not have a written language. The few that did were resigned to using pictographs and glyphs.

[3] "Saint Regis" refers to the St. Regis Mission founded in 1755 by French-Canadian Jesuit priests near Massena, N.Y. Its a reference to John Francis Regis [1597-1640].

[4] It was not until the early 18th Century that various French religious sect members worked with the Mohawks to create an alphabet of 12 Latins characters based upon French phonetic sounds. Alexander Graham Bell [1847-1922] worked with the Mohawks to translate their vocabulary into Visible Speech which was created by Alexander Melville Bell in 1867.

Various other writing systems were also created with the aid of non Native Americans based upon Latin characters. The current widely adopted Mohawk writing system is based upon a 1972 agreement; however, there have been numerous additional proposals since then, including The Mohawk Language Standardization Project of 1993.

[5] Mohawks referred to themselves as the “people of the flint” which would appear as “Kanienkehaka” or “kanye'keha:ka.” using Latin based characters and phonetic symbols. The tribe's main web site uses a similar mix of English and a phonetic alphabet based upon Latin characters.

[6] The Mohawk spoken language originally included no "labials" [m, p, b, f, v] - i.e., consonants in which one or both lips are the active articulator. These were only adopted after widespread contact with Europeans. The Mohawks could not have called themselves "Mohawks" because they did not use the constant "m" in their language until they adopted that sound from Europeans.

[7] The tribe has culturally appropriated its namesake, as well as its written language and part of its spoken language from non Native Americans yet has the gall to tell these non Native Americans that they don't have the right to use their own language. You do not need to work with the tribe or obtain their permission to use the name "Mohawk".
