I have been associated as an artist with New Hope Arts for over 15 years. This art association keeps getting better and more innovative. I would say it is on its way to be on par with some major city art galleries. Their wood and sculpture shows are time tested, showing very strong works. I am enjoying seeing this art venue grow as well as help artist display their works. Our very best to New Hope Arts.

Saw an amazing exhibit, Unstill Life, displaying the works of Annelies Van Dommelen. The gallery was nice, the displays beautifully lit, and the pieces incredible. There's was an elevator for those with a need. There were also some seats for anyone who may have needed to sit. I'd recommend anyone with a love of the arts, visit this gallery and beautiful town. Only negative was street parking with meters which I didn't notice. Got a ticket, but it was worth it!

I’ve always admired the incredible work New Hope Arts does to celebrate creativity and foster an inclusive cultural space. The “Works in Wood” exhibitions have been some of my favorite experiences, thanks in part to the friendly, professional front desk staff who set such a welcoming tone. Sadly, my most recent visit was a stark departure from those past experiences due to the behavior of Christine Ramirez at the front desk.

When I asked about whether the prices of the artworks were fixed or negotiable, Christine responded impatiently, saying the prices were fixed. Fair enough, but when I followed up with a question about directly negotiating with the artists—a common practice I’ve encountered at other spaces like the Banana Factory—her tone shifted dramatically. She seemed visibly upset and insisted that all communication should go through the organization, doubling down on how New Hope Arts relies on these sales for income. What really caught me off guard, though, was her repeated questioning of why I was asking. Her tone felt defensive, almost accusatory, and made me feel unwelcome for simply being curious.

Things only got worse from there. While exploring the exhibition, I decided to step out for a bit after hearing her chatting loudly with others at the front desk for an extended period. Hoping for a calmer atmosphere, I returned later to continue exploring the exhibit and took some photos with my phone—only to be approached by Christine again. She questioned why I was taking pictures, despite there being no signage or stated policy against photography. Her statement that I might “copy” the artworks was offensive and entirely uncalled for. When I tried to clarify my intentions, she dismissed my explanation, doubling down on her abrasive tone and calling it “straightforward.” She even questioned why I had left earlier, further adding to the discomfort.

This experience was a far cry from the warmth and respect I’ve always felt at New Hope Arts. Instead of fostering curiosity and engagement, Christine’s defensive and unprofessional demeanor created a hostile environment that made me, as a visitor, feel like I was doing something wrong simply for being there.

I share this feedback not to attack but to advocate for the kind of visitor experience New Hope Arts has been known for in the past. Art spaces should welcome curiosity, respect diverse perspectives, and create an environment where every guest—whether they’re buying, browsing, or simply appreciating—feels valued. I sincerely hope this feedback encourages a review of customer service practices to ensure that the inclusive and inspiring spirit of New Hope Arts continues to thrive.

Very clean & organized upstairs including the bathrooms. Very nice People. The only thing is if you've never been here. You wouldn't know to walk up the steps to see it unless someone was there at the time to greet & direct you to go up the steps. You end up walking around asking how to get to it. Hoping someone already knows the answer. This may deter some visitors.

If you are coming to New Hope for the art scene ..this is the place to see and be seen. Located in a historical building that is older than the canal. Awesome exhibits, really unique shows. Located in the same building is a community of artists called Canal Walk Studios. You can usually catch an artist at work. They love to talk about their process.Canal Walk Studios has events every third Saturday of the month, but you can catch interesting stuff inbetween as well.Like New Hope Arts on social media to stay up to date on all their happenings.

The New Hope Art Center is one of the best regional institution dedicated to bringing local and national works of art to the community. The exhibitions are always well curated and displayed. I always look forward to be inspired and delighted by the art shows at NHAC.
