Great Ambience, but Lacking in Food and Service

I recently visited this restaurant and bar, and while the ambience was fantastic, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The décor and atmosphere are truly impressive—warm lighting, tasteful interiors, nive views and a great vibe for an evening out. It’s definitely a place where you’d want to sit back, relax, and enjoy the setting.

Unfortunately, the food and service didn’t quite live up to the environment. The dishes we ordered were just average, lacking the flavors or freshness you’d expect from a place with such a lovely setting. Additionally, the service was slow and somewhat inattentive, which dampened the experience further.

If you’re looking for a place with great ambience to grab a drink, this spot might work for you. But if food and service are important, you may want to look elsewhere.

I have dined here twice while working out of town and it's a great place! It's set in the beautiful Hyatt Regency, right on the river! The bar has been clean both times I went and the service great!

My first visit, I ordered the Capital Burger, which consists of Grass-Fed Beef*, White Cheddar, Green Leaf Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Pickles, and a Brioche bun and of course I added bacon! The burger was thick and juicy, perfectly cooked with some nice bacon strips, and the fries were great, crunchy on the outside soft on the inside!

My second visit I ordered the Halibut which consists of Pan Seared Halibut, Fennel Pollen, Spinach & Exotic Mushrooms, Nduja Jasmine Rice! The fish was seared to perfection, the veggies and rice were so nice and fresh! Once I ordered it about 5 other folks got it because it looked and smelled so good!

Drinks are nice and strong and there is a wide variety of them. All in all, it's a great place to grab a bite, and a drink with a beautiful backdrop of the river.

Great place to get a 7$ Shiner Bock. Very nice deck with views of people hiking the trail and the swan paddle boats. There is also a nice view of downtown skyline across the river. The smash burger was not really a smash burger, but preformed patties. Does that count 🙂 did I say there was a nice view? Bring your out-of-towers here to soak up the Austin scene.

Tasty cocktails and yummy food! We got 3 dishes: the Barratta, Loaded Tots, and Fajitas! We also got "the Skyline" cocktail, it was great! Loved the view of the Chicago River from the restaurant! This was right on the water! We ate indoors by the window and could see the water, but there is also a really nice outdoor seating area on the river too. Perfect place to watch the sunset over the river while eating and drinking with friends or a date! (This place is located inside the Hyatt Hotel)

We had an amazing dinner at Marker 10! Our server, Emily, was awesome and took really good care of us. The margaritas were on point! We ordered chips and dips to start us off and enjoyed the 3 dips. We split fajitas. More than enough for the 2 of us and the most flavorful we've ever had. Our favorite was dessert. The Milk Chocolate Bundino is creamy and decadent. I highly recommend!

I would not recommend Marker 10, they really do raise the prices for ACL (Austin City Limits). A shot of Titos was $20, I felt that was uncalled for. Next time I should ask how much rather than ordering double shot Titos on the rocks and smoked wings for $70 with tip. I was so surprised at the bill when I asked the waiter he said, they usually up the price during ACL. I just want business to be fair rather than price gouge. I wasn't hungry so I ordered to go, thankfully I tried a couple of wings before because these are not good room temp ended up wasting and throwing them away.

Also, another thing that really bothered me was the bartenders (probably all but caught one in particular; likes to wear long sleeves that look like tattoos, keep his hands in apron, black hair not too long) LIKES TO CHARGE PREMIUM DRINKS AS HOUSE WELLS....He gave the check to a regular and she said this isn't my bill he said yes it is, she said if it was that cheap, let me get another.
Later, my friend asked what I would like to drink and I told her double shot Titos and she was charged $26. I don't know maybe I was not his type, rude, didn't tip much, didn't want to talk but damn.. that's a big price difference.

Prep early for ACL grab snacks, alcohol, liquor ahead of time.

View from patio was beautiful. Food was okay. Beware vegans and vegetarians - several items on the menu appear to be plant based; however, they have fish in them. Hippie hollow roll was adequate. Cocktails tend to be on the sweeter side.

Bartenders are very quick to serve, friendly, and professional...I get the feeling the staff are genuinely happy here--not a common thing and a very positive note. Only one Mezcal at the bar, but it hit the spot...I'd guess retail at around $40/bottle, so $13/shot isn't bad for a hotel bar price--I'd say it's a bargain relative to other places I've stayed. Cute pool looking up at the city...and there is the rare hot tub too. Nice patio view too, though I spent my time poolside with friends in town for ACL staying here. Awesome location for walking everywhere!
