On 4/20/2017, the publisher of this paper, Scott Buttram, posted statements to Facebook decrying the unanimous passing of HB284 by Alabama's House of Representatives, calling Autism a 'cottage industry', saying diagnoses are 'handed out like M&Ms', that he would 'highly recommend investing in autism clinics. You'll be a bajillionaire (sic)', suggested children with special needs should be expelled rather than helped. When confronted by families who have been touched by Autism, he deleted their comments and blocked them. It's surprising to me that someone who makes a living off of the 1st Amendment would participate in censorship and I would hope his ignorance, bigotry and exclusion toward children with special needs and their families will not be tolerated.
