I spoke with several guitar instructors before choosing Chris. He is a very knowledgeable and technically solid guitarist. I’ve been very pleased with how he approaches beginning students, like me. He keeps moving forward in the material without getting bogged down in minutia while balancing technical training, reading music, music theory and learning to play songs at each lesson - the variety is nice, so I’m not playing scales and finger exercises all the time! After about 8 years of acoustic guitar study, Chris helped transition my son to electric guitar study. Chris has been very accommodating with scheduling lessons, especially with my busy high schooler’s schedule. After assessing my son, he and Chris have been developing chord work, rock and jazz skills, and reading both music staff and tab notations. Chris integrates skill development and practice techniques with fun and popular music pieces. My son enjoys Chris’s teaching style and finds him kind and easy to work with. Chris' guitar lessons actually work. After years of plunking around on the guitar on my own using YouTube videos, I was tired of not seeing more improvement. I found Chris Krellwitz online, and after just two lessons I already saw noticeable improvement in my guitar skills.

Chris helped break our lessons (and my weekly practice plans) into both fun stuff like songs I enjoy and cool guitar solos, and important skill building exercises and scales. He also sprinkles in just enough music theory to keep me interested, but not too much so it feels like a classroom session.

The lessons are the best of both words of fun and educational. I recommend Chris to anyone looking to learn guitar while having a great time!
