We decided to move out of state to be closer to family, so we started our search for a real estate agent. After talking to friends and family about their experiences, we still didn’t feel sure who to hire. Then we met Greg in our neighborhood and set up a time to meet. He came over well prepared to describe his experience and local knowledge. In addition, he anticipated our questions and concerns which made the meeting even more productive. His detailed description of the whole process made us feel comfortable with him. After that initial meeting we were confident he was going to help us sell our house with minimum effort.

After hiring Greg, the first thing he did was to walk through our house inside and out asking questions and looking in all the nooks and crannies. He also brought in Steve, a contractor he has worked with on other home sales. Then Greg developed a list of changes / repairs that he suggested we do. He gave us rough cost estimates and explained the pros and cons of each project. He made it clear that it was our decision. Some projects were obvious, like painting the entire inside of the house.

Greg also recommended we hire a professional home inspection company early on, well before listing the home. That would allow us to make any needed repairs before a prospective buyer gets involved and avoid any surprises during escrow. Thanks to Greg’s foresight and experience that turned out to be the most important step in the process. The inspector found some water damage and mold under our kitchen sink. It wasn’t obvious by just looking under the sink, so we had no idea. Greg brought in Steve to investigate further by removing some drywall. The problem was much larger than we thought, and we ended up removing the cabinets and countertops around the sink. That meant we had to replace all the cabinets and countertops in the entire kitchen to match. That project took time but it was much better to do it before listing our home. Thanks to Greg, we avoided losing a buyer during escrow.

Since we were painting the entire house and remodeling the kitchen we decided to move out to my parent’s house in Colorado. Greg assured us that he could manage the construction projects for us and continue all the other work needed to list and sell our home. We moved out all our furniture and left Greg with the keys and a bit of a mess. He took care of everything including directing Steve’s projects, hiring landscapers and cleaning crews, and even meeting with the city inspector to get final approval for the kitchen remodeling permit. Greg let us make all the decisions and coordinated with us almost daily with phone calls and texts.

After all the projects were complete, Greg brought in the designers he had worked with before to stage the home. We could not believe the beautiful photos Greg sent us. It looked like a model home.

Greg recommended a listing price based on recent sales in our neighborhood and his best judgement. We thought it was a little low but he explained that that price would generate a lot of interest so buyers will probably offer over asking price. The open house did attract a lot of serious buyers, and we did get several offers over asking within a few days. Greg was right again.
In summary, we would rate Greg an A+. He simply did everything we could expect to sell our house. He talked us through the process whenever an issue came up and always returned our calls and text messages right away. To say he was very professional is an understatement.

I'd like to take a moment to share my experience as a client of Real Estate Broker/Agent Gregory Jackson. Following the death of my long-time partner last fall I engaged Greg to assist with the sale of our home and the subsequent purchase of a new home in a new city.

I hadn't sold any property in California in 20+ years and learned much had changed in the process and the technology that helps ensure a speedy and satisfactory conclusion. From our initial discussion through close of escrow Greg kept me informed of every detail and action necessary. He researched the local market to establish an accurate sale price and advised me on every step of the preparation for getting the house ready to advertise. That included everything from engaging services for power washing, window cleaning, painters and installing new carpet. Greg did an amazing job selling our house in Martinez. Throughout the entire process he was extremely helpful and honest, a straight shooter and a true professional. At the beginning, he prepared a very detailed current market research presentation and showed us how our home fit within different comparable sales nearby. We were able to set realistic expectations and establish a schedule and tasks list for all of us to work on.
