The Mike Valley article was great but what about Cedar Rapids very own pro skater turned premium skate shop owner Nate Sherwood Everyone wishes they had as much energy and good vibes as this local hero. Check out Eduskate located in the scenic Czech village of Cedar Rapids. Where is Nate's article? Go Nate!

LV is an exceptional local news magazine. Each issue is written by people who either live in or love our community. Most of the advertisers are our neighbors, too.

Speaking as someone who relocated from one of the five biggest cities in the country (5M people, 500sq.mi), this is the sort of thoughtful, caring media you only get in smart, progressive communities.

We're fortunate to live in a sort of goldilocks zone for local media; cities large enough to attract investment, development, and modern convenience, yet small enough that people still care about each other. Little Village is our voice.

For most of the past two years, Little Village was a novelty I picked up to read on the flight home. Six months ago, I relocated to Iowa Cityβ€”and Little Village is the only print publication I've had a paid subscription to since the 1990s.

I prefer small local sources for my information. I am grateful Little Village has expanded to an DSM Metro Area issue. Now I can read the types of stories I prefer and learn about others in my community. I am also a Direct Support Professional in Polk County and I utilize it to get my disabled clients integrated into their communities and out of their houses.

I find myself reading Little Village Magazine way more than the Press Citizen. Little Village is also the only mass email I actually read. A great supporter of local small business and a great asset to the Iowa City area. I hope to see it around for years to come.

I am a cultural lightweight. So many of Iowa's cultural attractions are just background in my life. But LV - and specifically the LV email newsletter - provide my Eastern Iowa life with the flavor I love. Just knowing what is going on gives me pleasure and pride about living here. Your incisive journalism is also a spicy alternative to the sometimes-blandness of everyday life. Thanks for being here.
