The Actor's Mission is a community theater organization in Rock Springs Wyoming. This is a rare benefit to a town our size, and there are a great many talented people who help it put on productions and to continue to bring entertainment to the high desert. Full disclosure, I have performed in several of the productions, to take that for what you will. While it is easy to be turned off by community theater, the Actor's Mission has put on some compelling and daring production over its 17 years of existence. While standard type shows such as Blithe Spirit and The Nerd can be seen, they have also put on original script performances dealing with drugs, alcoholism, and other important topics of the day. Some productions have openly questions the necessity of accepted community values and challenged people to thing about their beliefs and customs. They only do about 4 shows a year, each of which is performed 6 times, so you have to check to see if and what is playing. Actor's Mission has become a rallying point for our community as Rock Springs seeks to revitalize downtown. A building was donated to the group, but extensive renovations are needed before it becomes an operational theater. In the meantime, AM uses the Broadway Theater in downtown as a temporary home while we raise funds. Please come out and join the fun. A free dinner is served before each performance and this is a great way to get to know the who's who of our little city.
