Tracking from Philadelphia to Wilkes barre. At 545 am I got to Harrisburg around 822 am, I was suppose to be here by 8 am to transfer buses. The next bus leaving was around 1130 am, cold and hungry went to the news stand asking if they accepted food stamps. The man working told me no, I had a few bucks but decided to take a look! Unfortunately I didn’t have enough for a sandwich. The man working had a sandwich that was to be out today and asked if I was hungry! I said yes but I was ok and he handed me a ham & cheese! You don’t meet many people like that this day and age that show kindness! I would like to thank him for his generosity and kindness during the holiday season !!

They are open early at 4:30 am & let’s commuters in right away . Very courteous staff & reasonable priced store considering high rent they must be paying for being inside train station . New owner has kept the old traditional items & added new inventory . They are the only store in Harrisburg that carries souvenier T-shirts , keychains magnets & variety of other souveniers. Hats off to their being staying open despite going thru a very low ridership after Covid since state staff is still working at half capacity in office. Riders need to support this store . They carry tons of items at present.

Perfect in every way. I shop here even when I’m not traveling. Incredible - I mean it - selection of hand-curated books, including the classics. Bill the owner cares and you can see that in his imprint throughout the store. Great coffee & conversation too.

I miss the old owners. I've been three times under the new ownership and the cashier has yet to look me in the eye let alone say a word to me. Today he picked his nose while counting out my change. I wish I was making this up...

I've been frequenting the Newsstand for over 30 years. Great people who run the stand. Sometimes when I don't need anything, I always go inside the store because the stand staff is always friendly.

It would not be the same wonderful travel experience with Amtrak if the newsstand was not there.

This place is trash. They charge twice as much as a small connivence store. The magazine collection is very poor.
