Expect to receive F's on participation assignments especially in classes such as Art 101. Also, expect the Dean to always side with the instructor with biased opinions instead of using actual reasoning and logic. If this school is your only option, transfer once you complete your general education courses. They do not care about you, and have made that expressively clear.

The college is good value and has great resources available to anybody who asks. Class sizes are small. The people who work there are very kind and go out of their way to help others. They have plenty of recreational activities. Professor Walker is excellent. The chemistry professor is more challenging. Overall, highly recommended!

If you go to this school, expect to receive F’s on participation assignments especially in classes like Art 101. Which is an elective..
Also, expect the Dean to always side with the instructor, even if they are wrong.

Attending WVU-P was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. I had several professors who didn’t seem to care if their students passed or failed; I even had one professor who bragged about how many people fail his class. I was also lied to by one of the admissions counselors (about something that was very serious in regards to my education). I would not recommend anyone to attend WVU-P.

I had a teacher give me examples of when it’s “acceptable” vs “unacceptable” to miss. Apparently if you’re sick and bring in a note from your doctor, they don’t care. Another example they gave was “let’s say you’re helping a friend move because her boyfriend is hitting on her, do it outside of class time or you’re absent, don’t miss class.” I sat there in shock at what this woman was saying, like Jesus Christ you just said that being in class is more important than helping someone get out of a domestic violence situation. The only acceptable reason for missing that she gave was if a family member died. WVUP, do better.

Listen, I went to the WVUP campus in Ripley, where it offers some of the same classes as the ones at the main campus and if I enjoyed the campus in Ripley, WV; then why won’t I enjoy the campus in Parkersburg. Another thing is that everyone is different and has different attitudes than someone else. Maybe the person who reviewed the college is someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. If you have confidence in yourself, then you can succeed and if you need help your professors will help you.

West Virginia University at Parkersburg is the best school ever! I am a nontraditional student and I was so nervous about starting school in my late 30's, but I had no need to worry. Since my first day I have been welcomed with open arms! WVUP is my home away from home!!! I love the staff and professors, Dr. K is the best English teacher I have ever had, and she helped me soon much! I have achieved so much since my first semester last spring and I will be forever grateful to WVUP! I hope to work here after I graduate because I love it so much I don't want to leave, and I want to help other students feel welcome and to help them achieve their goals! This is the best college in the MOV!

WVUP is a good place to start your acedemic-journey. The staff and instructors are so friendly and helpful. They have been such an encouring support to me and my family- a "family away from family".
